Best Practice
The department
of Practice of Medicineis always looking to innovate our students, so, it's
essential that we will try new things to add to our pedagogical Learning
methods. Department of Practice of Medicine is focusing in providing new
innovations in learning which interject rigor into the curriculum bydeveloping
thinking and problem-solving skills through integration and active learning
methods.
Objectives:
· Use of Program materials and Reference books which are numerous in Department & Library.
·
Students are engaged and
focused on their curriculum on vibrant atmosphere.
· Department often use
collaborative and/or authentic tasks that place industrious thinking in
students at the learning process.
· Seating arrangements of
students are Teamed, Grouped, clustered, varied according to program.
· Classrooms are converted as
activity-based spaces as easily getting uncountable learning.
· Department Faculty & PG
scholars are actively engaged with different groups and students in their
various tasks or assignments.
· Under graduate and Post
Graduate students are given opportunities to plan and organize, imply the
ideas, monitor their own work, direct their own learning, and to be aware of
their own knowledge.
· Under graduates, Interns
(House Surgeons), Post Graduatesof SKHMC& Faculties outside the campus are
trained in practical skills with simulation based learning and Basic Life
Support training for faculties and health workers..
Department of Practice of
Medicine is conducting different Best practice approach in orderto designing
and delivering a high quality of learning and teaching practice. Programs as
follows,
I. Forum
for Interactive Learning (FIL):
FIL is a weekly
one day program has a unique role in the enrichment of theoretical and
practical skill in the field of medicine for the students. The classes are
organized for the final BHMS students and PG scholars comprises of several
teaching Learning methods. Students can regain their knowledge in various
signs & syndromes, about normal values, Medical Website, clinical case
discussion, quiz regarding previous class session, Book and Journal Review.
Program was implemented on 2008.
II. Progression
Activities for Student’s Skill (PASS):
It is a weekly
one day program, adapted a new method of learning program, aimed for Learning
diseases - symptoms, Signs & Syndromes, Homoeopathic Medicines & Physical
examination through individual student or group of Students who are skilled in
various Cultural, Literature, Sports, Physical Activities, Programmed Patients
and Other Individual Skills. Program was implemented on 2019.
III. Skill
Enhancement for Early Diagnosis (SEED):
SEED is a
weekly two days bed side program aimed to develop skills in Physical
Examination & Differential Diagnosis for Final BHMS Students and Post
Graduates. Periodical assessment for both UG & PG was conducted as OSCE
method.
Physical Examination
Classes:
Classes are
arranged at bed side, in ward.In Physical Examination classes a standard
patient (SP) was given to each group of students,emphasizes patient
interviewing, acquiring a medical data base, and performing a comprehensive
physical examination in the SP provided to each group. Program was implemented
on 2008.
Differential Diagnosis
class:
Classes are
arranged at bed side, in ward. In Differential Diagnosis class an IP case
was given to each group of students and asked to work out provisional
diagnosis, differential diagnosis, systemic examinations and their significant
findings along with needful special investigations.Program was implemented on
2008.
IV. Simulation
based medical learning for Students, outside faculties.
Department of
Practice of medicine is conduction simulation based learning for our Students,
Students and faculties from other medical institutions. College was facilitated
with well-equipped skill training lab named Skill Development Centre For
Communication & Clinical Practice (SDCCCP). Department developed different
modules for training. The program consist of different techniques and procedure
provides a structured, learner-centred environment in which students, Interns,
PGs and practitioners can learn practice skills which are useful in bed side.
Simulation based learning was introduced from 2016 onwards.
V. Basic
Life Support Training.
Department of
Practice of Medicine forms a BLS trainer team of faculties from various
departments of SKHMC. Providing one day training program/ workshop.The training
cum workshop was divided into two sections; one was theoretical part and second
was hand on skill.Theoretical aspect was explained by expert in the field.Power
point presentation was used for better visual impact on the participants. Hands
on training were also given to the participants. This practical aspect
was demonstrated live on CPR Mannequins. Team & Program was
established on 2015.
